Dentures

Dentures are popular for replacing several teeth or an entire row of teeth.  Dr. DiMattia offers custom-made dentures to complete your smile and return your normal chewing and speech.

Dentures are removable, as opposed to bridges or implants, and are made to be removed at night for cleaning and comfort.  Removing the dentures for sleeping allows the mouth to rest and the mouth tissues to perform their natural cleaning processes.

The dentures require gentle brushing to remove food particles and stored in water to prevent drying out.  Occasional effervescent cleaners are added to the water to prevent bacteria buildup and make cleaning easier.

Although custom-made, dentures usually require one or more adjustments after receiving them to prevent any rubbing or irritation of the gums.  Any pain associated with dentures should be assessed as soon as possible to prevent ulcers from forming.  Call Dr. DiMattia immediately for an appointment.

Partial dentures fill gaps in the natural teeth and clip into place with a plastic and metal frame to hold the teeth.

Complete dentures provide an entire row of teeth and can replace upper, lower, or both sets.  Most patients require some tooth extractions to prepare for a complete set of dentures.
